I'm so tired...

I'm so tired this morning.. my daughter had a rough night and woke up through out the night. I don't know if she was just not comfy or what, but I do know that it caused me to be a wee bit cranky.

Of course, parenting can't be put on hold. So I had to get up bright and early with my son (daughter woke up early too.. go figure). As soon as Devin woke up, "mommy, hungry".. just what I really don't want to hear as soon as I open my eyes... got a headache from lack of solid sleep and now i got to get up and get breakfast started. Went the easy route and the kids got oatmeal this morning.

Now that the kids have been fed their breakfast, it's time for me to get to cleaning AGAIN... I just wished I wouldn't put it off and actually do it in the evenings after the kiddos go to bed. But hey that is my time... ok so "my time" is spent sleeping, because around here with two toddlers, you never know if your going to get to sleep all night or an hour or two.

I so need a nap.. one baby is down and out and just waiting to see if my lil no napper decides that today is going to be the day that he takes a nap.  Really tho i need to be thinking about dinner... i keep putting that part off.. i just need to get my rear in gear and look into the pantry and freezer and dive right into making it.. stop procrastinating (yeah probably spelled that wrong but anywho)..

I sure hope that nobody decides to just pop in for an unannounced visit today... i feel like bloody hell and haven't had a very good cleaning day, even tho i did get some done.. it's just not all done.

Got lucky, no visitors. Not so lucky with both babies taking a nap at the same time.. but at least they BOTH took one today (can't believe that Devin even took one).. Now getting ready to fix them a snack and then I'm getting ready to go to the store w/my cousin as soon as their dad gets off of work and gets here to sit with them.. I'm excited, it has been way too long since I got to go grocery shopping without them...

Today is cleaning day...

This morning I woke up and decided that today was going to be cleaning day.. I have had it with this mess of a home.. As you know how kids can be, let alone a couple toddlers... I have toys strung from one end of the house to the other and all in between.  I just can't and won't take it anymore.. I understand that they are babies but when will they comprehend that when you get done playing with a toy,  you put it back (well since they are my children, in all reality, they probably won't ever comprehend that.. they get that from me).. I need to inforce something like this:

On another subject (cleaning isn't one of my favorite subjects to be talking about, let alone doing).. I seen this online the other day and I must say that I want one or two (would even be better if it had a lil something stronger than water in it too)...

I mean seriously, HOW CUTE IS THAT?? ok so it might not be very cute unless you crochet.. but i found a website that sells them and they have them for knitting, quilting, and one for reading..

UNIT INSPECTION - QUARTERLY

Opened the door this morning, and who do i see coming up my walk way... the apartment maintence guy... and what is he carrying.. the dreadful 24 hour notice that unit inspection is starting tomorrow.. i knew it was coming up soon.. but damn i hate those things.. so far i have only had one since living here and i passed it without any marks. but, to wake up to that notice and KNOW that you have ALLOT of work to do today to get ready for it, cause they check every crack n nook and every cabinet and closet... It's just down right nerve wracking!!! It doesn't help that I have two toddlers running around that think it's funny to destroy a room as soon as I get it cleaned and ready.. So this time, I sent a message to their dad to see if he would come and get them for the night so I can get it all done... Better get to it.. i have to keep telling myself "one room at a time" going to start with the downstairs bathroom.. then head upstairs to get the bedrooms and the bath room upstairs.. then come down to get the kitchen and livingroom... i got 10 hours.. i can do it.. i'm just lazy :)

Already got the downstairs bathroom clean (well everything except the mirror and i'll go through and do that through the last walk through as i got to do all the windows as well). Both babies rooms are all done.. now it looks like the only thing left to do is the three worse rooms (kitchen, livingroom, and my bedroom)... and those rooms aren't bad.. really.. in the livingroom i just have to pick up some toys, vacuum, and shampoo the carpet and wash two windows. in my bedrom, i just have to put up all the clean clothes that are still in bags from the laundry mat and vacuum.. the kitchen.. well that's another story..

Where are all these dirty dishes coming from, and why are they piled up in my sink??? This would be the question that I seem to ask myself every flippin day..  oh i know where they come from.... those cleaning ferries that were supposed to be cleaning my house at night while we are all asleep are on strike and thought it would be funny to leave me a sink full of dirty dishes in the mornings... no, really they are because after my late night eating (which i totally don't need to be doing) i'm too lazy to wash them.. i tell myself "they will be there in the morning".. So today, i decided that I would do better and keep the dishes all washed up, because really we don't want a dirty kitchen whenever someone can just pop in and surprise ya (trust me that has happened, many times.. i usually act like I'm not home)..

This morning, after a few hours of sleep because my son decided he wanted to stay up most of the night, my daughter thought it would be fun to wake up at the butt crack of dawn... so it's another wonderful day at my house without very much sleep (yes i was being sarcastic, as me without sleep means that it's definitely not going to be a wonderful day).  I so need to get better at keeping the babies on a sleeping schedule.  Which would be so nice.. but what good is it going to do whenever i seem to wake up all bright eye and bushy tail at midnight.. and then i have to get up with the sunrise in the morning?

This afternoon, after I washed another sink full of dishes, I washed and cut up some fresh fruit for the kids to snack on.. And of course, that was a mess.. my carpet is feeling the results of that. I don't know why the kids seem to think that they are aloud to eat in the livingroom... my daughter thinks it's funny to dump her food on the floor or just throw it on the floor and leave it.. So, you can guess what I get to do tomorrow... shampoo the carpet and pray that it comes all nice and clean again.

I didn't do much of anything today, after cleaning up the kitchen, I worked on my crocheting some.. I'm getting into this whole "granny a day 2012". I'm currently working on a yo-yo blanket. I know it's technically not a granny square, but these are so cute. The colours are even better, normally I'm into earth tone colours and I decided to go BRIGHT for this one. I'm using green, pink, purple, and blue (think bright neon highlighter colours) joined in black using the flat braid stitch.  I'm hoping to get done with this one by the end of next month. But, I don't think that will honestly happen, as I have over 900 yo-yo's to make and join.

This evening for dinner, I tried out a couple new recipes I found on pinterest. The main dish was good, however, i chose to try the instant fruit cobbler... SUCKED.. it came out with powdery and gooey (and not the good goey, I'm talking about the uncooked cake batter gooey)...totally not very tasty.. good thing I made it for the house before making for any company.  Kevin, stopped by for a few hours, and he saved the day by bringing a loaf of banana bread that he made.. so the babies had dessert (which is a rare thing at our house).

Here is a picture of what I got done yesterday on the blanket (you can see it, but I have 32 green yo-yo's going down the length of the first row, I did that so I would know how far to go with them... so wish i didn't do that because its a pain in my arse to connect the current yo-yo's..oh well, you live and learn and figure out how to move on ..

A Granny Square A Day

Wow, it's been over a year since I posted anything (not that anyone follows and reads up).  I was surfing the internet late last night, and I came upon a blog about doing 1 granny square per day during 2012. I thought that this was a great idea, so I joined. I know that I'm 49 days behind from the get go, but I can do this (at least I hope that I can). I already have 3 complete granny squares, so now I'm only 45 squares behind. I figured this would be the only way I would be able to commit myself into getting a blanket made for my daughter before she starts having kids of her own (sad part is, she is only 2 years old now). And who knows, maybe I'll finally be able to use the extra grannies for me a blanket.
Anyway, I'll be posting pics of my progress (I'll try to post pics weekly to keep updated).

It's been 5 days into my journey of A Granny A Day 2012. As of today, I'm only 31 granny squares behind everyone else, so I'm slowly but surely getting caught up.  I started out using my scrap/left over yarn from previous projects.  After seeing these colours put together I think that I want to stick with them. So day 5 into this, I RAN OUT OF YARN.. so a shopping trip was called for. I get to the store, and what happens.. they are out of the green colour that I used. Thank goodness they had the pink/rose colour. I went ahead and picked up a skein of the pink. I figure that I'll just make half a granny a day until I get the green to finish up the squares. And hope that I get to make another trip to the store soon (and that the green will be in stock) before I end up too much farther behind. I even went so far as check other projects that got pushed aside (i get bored easily with a project) to see if there was any of this green that got used, that i could have "borrowed" the yarn.  I made a block of squares so far. I plan on making 11 more blocks and figure out how I want to connect the blocks. I don't want to connect the blocks like I did the squares, I'm looking for a more decorative way to connect. I think I might have found one, I hope it's as easy as it looks.
