A Granny Square A Day

Wow, it's been over a year since I posted anything (not that anyone follows and reads up).  I was surfing the internet late last night, and I came upon a blog about doing 1 granny square per day during 2012. I thought that this was a great idea, so I joined. I know that I'm 49 days behind from the get go, but I can do this (at least I hope that I can). I already have 3 complete granny squares, so now I'm only 45 squares behind. I figured this would be the only way I would be able to commit myself into getting a blanket made for my daughter before she starts having kids of her own (sad part is, she is only 2 years old now). And who knows, maybe I'll finally be able to use the extra grannies for me a blanket.
Anyway, I'll be posting pics of my progress (I'll try to post pics weekly to keep updated).

It's been 5 days into my journey of A Granny A Day 2012. As of today, I'm only 31 granny squares behind everyone else, so I'm slowly but surely getting caught up.  I started out using my scrap/left over yarn from previous projects.  After seeing these colours put together I think that I want to stick with them. So day 5 into this, I RAN OUT OF YARN.. so a shopping trip was called for. I get to the store, and what happens.. they are out of the green colour that I used. Thank goodness they had the pink/rose colour. I went ahead and picked up a skein of the pink. I figure that I'll just make half a granny a day until I get the green to finish up the squares. And hope that I get to make another trip to the store soon (and that the green will be in stock) before I end up too much farther behind. I even went so far as check other projects that got pushed aside (i get bored easily with a project) to see if there was any of this green that got used, that i could have "borrowed" the yarn.  I made a block of squares so far. I plan on making 11 more blocks and figure out how I want to connect the blocks. I don't want to connect the blocks like I did the squares, I'm looking for a more decorative way to connect. I think I might have found one, I hope it's as easy as it looks.
